BSI Group Announces Asia Pacific Representation Agreement
23 September 2008
The BSI Group announced today that it has signed a Ground-Breaking agreement with one of the largest travel organisations in China.
This agreement now allows BSI (Booking Services International) and ICOR (The BSI Group’s specialist sourcing and management consultancy) the ability to offer their corporate clients localised specialist presence to deliver on the ground negotiation services for corporate accommodation, in one of the fastest developing and most dynamic regions of the world.
Commenting on the agreement, Trevor Elswood – BSI Group’s Managing Director said: “We are delighted to enhance BSI’s global focus in a region that continues to play an increasing part in our customers hotel demand (in fact in Asia the demand has risen 3 fold in the past 2 years). BSI see that Travel Managers and procurement teams are finding Asia a more difficult region to negotiate in and as a result there is the need for knowledgeable and local level negotiation services to deliver the best negotiated hotel programmes, so securing the best deals and ensuring hotel product quality, safety and security requirements are met.
This new BSI and ICOR service delivered in China, Singapore and Hong Kong allows our customers access to extremely strong benchmarking data and locally negotiated volume pricing, at both global chain and local hotel level. Through localised negotiations, we have cracked the issues that often leave “centralised” global hotel programmes not fully leveraged or robustly negotiated with “on the ground” expertise”.
Elswood continues “this is the first of many strategic global service roll outs which will be achieved over the Autumn and Winter period – reflecting our commitment to global Total Accommodation and Meetings Management solutions and the increased encouragement we have from our customers to take our proven skills in the European Market onto the global stage”.
Peter Dennis – Head of ICOR also commented by saying: “For many corporates, the sourcing of hotels in the Asia Pacific region has proved difficult in recent years given the language and technical barriers to RFP and GDS inclusion. This agreement now allows us to have on the ground, localised negotiation capability and extended content reach that will set a new benchmark”
