Innovative technology from BSI brings significant savings for Tesco
Specialist accommodation, meetings and event management service provider BSI has revealed that it has saved Tesco in excess of £3m since it deployed its internal meeting room management system in early 2009.
These significant savings were made through optimising the use of internal meetings rooms coupled with the implementation of effective system led pre-authorisation policy processes that control external meetings spend.
By adopting a procurement strategy to deploy BSI as a ‘single source’ across their accommodation, meetings and events spend, Tesco’s procurement team have now taken a leading industry position, which was recently recognised at the European Travel Buyers Awards.
BSI Group Managing Director Trevor Elswood commented: “Managing over 50,000 internal meetings per annum through BSI’s self book technology, Tesco can now ensure more effective and optimum use of their internal meetings space, whilst robust authorisation policies managed not only online but also through BSI’s reservation centres, have delivered impressive reductions of 24% in spend per meeting.
“The procurement teams at both Tesco and BSI have worked in a focused and effective manner to deliver really impressive and accountable results.”
This reinforced when Tesco’s Senior Buying Manager Mike Thomsett and his team recently won with the “Best Innovation in a Meetings Programme (SMMP)” at the European Travel Buyers Awards emphasising not only Tesco’s work, but also that of the wider team in making significant savings.”
Trevor added: “I am delighted to see that BSI’s investment in technology and client innovation has continued to pay dividends in client satisfaction, customer retention and growth, and industry accolades.”
